The Fox Lake Fire Department is lead into action by 34 year veteran, Chief Ron Hoehne. Chief Hoehne has come up through the ranks and has taken over the department from his father, long time Fire Chief Stu Hoehne. Chief Ron Hoehne has held every position in his tenure on the fire department. In 2001 Ron was nominated by the membership for chief and approved by the Village Board and Fire Protection District.

The Fox Lake Fire Department is made up of 72 members, 26 of which are full time members and 45 paid on call/premise members. Out of the 26 full time members, 24 work a 24/48 hour shift with the other 2 working days or swing shifts. The full time staffing is supplemented by paid on premise workers. The Fox Lake Fire Department staffs 3 stations with 24/7 coverage. Each station has a full Advanced Life Saving and Firefighting crew.
